Susan Elizabeth (Denton) Wirtz, 73, of Barnegat, NJ, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family, on March 22nd, 2024, after an 8-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Susan was born in Englewood, NJ to Richard and Jane (Tipping) Denton, Jr. Susan met her husband, Kenneth, in 1968, and they were married on September 19th, 1970 at Babylon Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. They were happily married for over 53 years and raised a family with their 3 sons. Sue remained faithful in her service to Jehovah up until the time of her death, with her husband, Ken, by her side. Sue loved Jehovah her God, her husband, her family and her friends. She was known for her love of turtles especially, along with a love of birds and small 4-legged creatures. Besides running a household, Sue was able to spend extra time in the ministry as a pioneer. Later in life, after her kids were grown, she became a Home Health Worker, doing personal care, cleaning, shopping and sometimes even playing her flute for her patients. They loved her, and she loved them. Susan was known for her generous and giving nature. The house never stayed empty for long. Whether it was opening the home for family or brothers and sisters that visited from around the world to stay during International Conventions. Or having hundreds of 2-legged or 4-legged friends stay during hurricanes and other disasters while in Freeport, NY or here in New Jersey, Ken was always along for the ride with her. Even as her illness advanced, Sue's sweet nature prevailed. She was a quick favorite among the nurses and hospice workers. Always having a ready smile and a laugh with them, she looked forward to visiting with everyone who stopped by. She always perked up when a kingdom song was on and loved to sing along. She will be deeply missed by her husband, family and friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Jane. She leaves behind her loving husband, Ken, their three children, Brian (Jane) Wirtz, Joshua, and Jesse and grandson Danny, and sisters Phyllis (Peter) Parlegreco and Jane (David) Neal and brother, Rick, and her dear friend of over 50 years, Karen Fischer. There will be a Memorial Service held at the Bayville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses 124 Hickory Lane Bayville, NJ 08721 Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 3pm.
